Neuromuscular Manipulation (NMM)

This modality uses manipulation techniques in a systematic approach to address soft tissue (joint, muscles and nerves) dysfunction and restrictions.

NM techniques include passive positional release (PPR) to improve joint range of motion and proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) to restore full functionality through use of movements that connects the brain to the body region.

NM is commonly used to address clients with strained tissues, myofascial trigger points, limited joint range of motion, nerve entrapment, posture, and gait issues. Furthermore, the underlying principle of NM is to educate and actively involve clients in their own self-care management with information about their body’s healing needs.

NM is used in mainstream medicine, osteopathic, nursing, dental, physical, occupational and massage therapy practices.
